Newport
We
are a social, non commercial, community minded
Argentine Tango dance group who extend a welcome to
everyone; A relaxed environment; Friends of Tango
for Tango friends. We also DJ
Tango events for other groups just for the fun
of it.

Objectives
:
To encourage, promote and develop the art and
culture of Argentine Tango dancing within the
community of the West Midlands; and to provide a
facility for the purpose of recreation, amusement,
learning and dance practise for the tango community.
Teachers:
Bruce and Tricia Cannon have been dancing Tango
Argentino for more than 25 years. They have learned
and practised their Tango in UK, Buenos Aires,
Vancouver, Prague, New Zealand and
Australia. They bring their own teaching methods
developed over the last 20 years or so - 5 of those
years as principal teachers at the Perth Tango Club in
Western Australia. Their approach is to get you
to relax and enjoy this wonderful dance, and they
manage to get you dancing enjoyably very early on in
your Tango journey.
Atmosphere:
A relaxed environment, sharing the enthusiasm for
all things Tango.
Located
at Cosy Hall, Water Lane,
Newport, Shropshire TF10 7LD.
Classes are run on
Thursday evenings from 7.30pm. to 9:30 or 10.30pm
(depending on demand). We also hold regular milongas.
For a listing of current activities - please check
the Calendar.
Whether you are a complete
beginner or a seasoned Tanguero/Tanguera
feel free to come along to Cosy
Hall. There's no need to bring a partner,
although they are more than welcome, just bring some
shoes that don't
stick to the floor when you pivot.
We are dedicated to dancing,
promoting and developing Argentine Tango as a social
dance. Because of the pleasure we have found in
dancing Tango, we are enthusiastic and passionate
about sharing it with anyone who wants to learn and
experience the many facets of Argentine Tango within
the general etiquette
of the Buenos Aires milongas.
We practice the social style
of Argentine Tango. In contrast to stage or
'medal' tango, the social dance is entirely
improvised. Our classes
are designed to have you dancing socially as soon as
possible. The emphasis is on the 'connection' between
the leader and follower, musicality, and
improvisation. We have taught people of many
nationalities whilst in Perth, and have nurtured a
common love of Tango amongst them all.
